Pendleton, OR (February 16, 2026) — Two Idaho residents were hospitalized Monday afternoon after their pickup truck became wedged beneath a semi-trailer on Interstate 84 near Cabbage Hill. According to the Oregon State Police, the crash occurred in the eastbound lanes when a Dodge Ram 2500 pulling a loaded flatbed trailer allegedly struck the rear of a slow-moving, oversized commercial vehicle hauling three trailers. The area at the time was reportedly covered in dense fog.
Emergency crews extricated both occupants from the pickup before transporting them to St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton with unspecified injuries. The semi-truck driver was not reported injured. Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing and no citations have been issued.
Initial reports reference dense fog in the area at the time of the crash. While reduced visibility can be a factor in highway collisions, it is important not to assume that weather alone explains how this impact occurred.
