2023 Elle D’Amore Law School Scholarship Recipient

D’Amore Law Group is proud to award the 2023 Elle D’Amore Law School Scholarship to Isabella Fazio, who will begin her studies at Notre Dame Law School this fall. Isabella’s winning essay tackled the question: What do you think our country should do to foster unity?

“Isabella’s essay was a logical roadmap that first identified what she believed to be the root cause of the problem, and then suggested a few thoughtful solutions,” said Tom D’Amore, the firm’s founder. “I was most impressed that her solutions never forgot or dismissed the people involved in what could be considered an academic exercise. I remain convinced that attorneys who are able to balance logic and strategy with compassion make our industry better, our service more valuable. We wish Isabella the best of luck in cultivating both sides of her future practice.”

In her essay, Isabella explains her belief that the increasing presence of technology, while useful, has been the main culprit in eroding unity in the “alleged” United States. She introduces the concept of ‘third places,’ and explains that these once-popular social spaces need to be rediscovered, so that true community connection can flourish.

“True connection requires focus and attention,” says Isabella in her essay. “Online interactions can prevent these due to the ability to disengage and multitask during internet conversation. The reestablishment of the ‘third physical place’ can bring Americans together and foster unity within the country because it allows human-to-human connection unavailable online.”

Isabella earned her B.A. in History and Political Science, summa cum laude, from George Washington University in 2021. Following graduation, she worked as a legal assistant at Keller Postman LLC and Alex Walsh Law, where she learned about the exciting world of litigation. One of her favorite experiences was assisting attorneys with Montero v. 3M, a bellwether trial that took place in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida.

Isabella is looking forward to beginning her formal legal education at Notre Dame Law School this fall. She hopes to use her law degree to work on cases involving product liability and consumer protection, especially those concerning carcinogens.
