DPI Specialty Foods of Tualatin, Oregon is recalling Mauri Brand Gorgonzola cheese sold at Costco's in Colorado because it may be contaminated with Escherichia coli O157:H7 bacteria (E. coli O157:H7), which causes a diarrheal illness, often with bloody stools. The recalled cheese had sell-by dates of January 13, 2011, and January 14, 2011.
State health department officials had found E. coli O157:H7 in an unopened package tested at the state health department's laboratory.
