Yesterday, Commercial Meat Company, a Los Angeles, California firm, announced a recall of approximately 377,775 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.
The recalled beef products included bulk ground beef, ground beef patties, ground beef taco, and ground beef chili .
The products subject to recall were produced between Sept. 7, 2011 and Oct. 6, 2011 and were shipped primarily to restaurants in California and Nevada.
The problem was discovered through routine monitoring by the Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, which confirmed a positive result for E.coli O157:H7.
There have, to date, been no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of these products.
