Man Hit and Killed By Truck, Police Arrest Wife: “We Believe That This Wasn’t an Accident”

As personal injury attorneys, we see all different types of car crashes and automobile accidents. From distracted drivers texting on their way to work, to DUI suspects, colliding with oncoming traffic after driving while intoxicated. But Jennifer Ann Lowery’s case, as described by the Oregonian, where reckless driving may have potentially caused the death of her husband, is just not one you see every day.

Police arrived at the scene to find Jennifer Ann Lowery near the 1500 block of Northeast Division St., a short distance from her husband, Mark Lowery, who lay unresponsive in the middle of Northeast Hogan Place, directly north of Division Street. Although police are not certain of the events that lead up to the incident, they booked Jennifer Ann Lowery into the Multnomah County Detention Center, pending a second-degree manslaughter charge.

“We believe that this wasn’t an accident.” Said Detective Brandon Crate, a Gresham police spokesman.

And to make matters worse? This isn’t Lowey’s only outstanding criminal charge, with court documents showing that Lowery also faces charges in Clackamas County in connection with a December 2014 incident, where she was charged with two counts of third and fourth degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, second degree disorderly conduct, and third degree criminal mischief. Although prior criminal acts don’t prove guilt in the current case, it is clear that Ms. Lowery needs a bit of help, and appears that help may only come by way of our state’s criminal justice system.

With the events surrounding her husband’s death still under investigation, the police are urging anyone with information to call the department tip line at 503.618.2719. If you have any information on this incident at all, please contact the police immediately. We must all work together in assisting our police force, providing whatever information we can, and ensure that people like Jennifer Ann Lowery are held accountable for their actions.
