The Oregonian Highlights D’Amore Law Group’s Lawsuit Over Embassy Suites Shooting
D’Amore Law Group attorney Tom D’Amore has filed a lawsuit on behalf of security guard Joel Flint-Blystone, who was shot in the knee while responding to a disturbance on the eighth floor of the Embassy Suites near Portland International Airport. The lawsuit, filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court, alleges gross negligence on the part of the hotel and other defendants. The lawsuit was recently covered by The Oregonian.
The suit claims that lax security and a lack of surveillance at the hotel created a hotbed of criminal activity, which ultimately contributed to the March 15, 2023, shooting. Flint-Blystone, an unarmed guard employed by Cascadia Global Security, was given no warning of potential danger when sent to investigate the disturbance. Upon arriving, he was caught in the crossfire of a deadly gunfight.
Flint-Blystone was shot in the left knee during the exchange of gunfire. The suit also highlights that Flint-Blystone, after being critically wounded, called the hotel front desk four times for help but received no response. Despite the fatal shooting of another individual at the same hotel just four months earlier, Embassy Suites allegedly failed to implement security improvements.
The lawsuit names Embassy Suites, Hilton Hotels, and the Port of Portland, among others, as defendants. The lawsuit seeks damages for pain and suffering, lost wages, medical costs, and an impaired ability to perform daily tasks.
D’Amore Law Group is committed to securing justice on behalf of Flint-Blystone and holding the defendants accountable for their roles in this preventable tragedy.
