E. Coli Contamination Prompts Recall of Meat Sold in Oregon and Other States

On Friday, Modesto-based Valley Meat Co. moved to recall about a million pounds of beef patties and other ground beef products possibly contaminated with E. coli. The announcement came after seven people were sickened with the bacteria. The products were sold, mostly frozen, to distributors in California, Texas, Oregon, Arizona and internationally.

Consumers are encourage to dispose of products they may have at home, or return such products to the place of purchase for a full refund.

A list of the meat products subject to the recall (with instructions on how to read the labels affixed to such products) has been published to the Valley Meat website.
