Rash of Duck Boat Accidents With Capsizing in Philadelphia and Crashes in Boston

This past month has seen a rash of boating accidents involving duck boats – amphibious tour vehicles that can both drive on land and cruise on water, thereby providing tourists with a combined city street and river tour in historic cities like Boston and Philadelphia.

Unfortunately, July has seen a rash of accidents involving the duck boats. In Philadelphia, on July 7, 2010, a stalled duck boat was run over by a barge, plunging tourists into the Delaware River, and resulting in the deaths of two passengers.

In Boston, a duck boat collided with five other vehicles on land after experiencing brake pedal problems, injuring five. This accident came only a few days after another accident in Boston involving a car that tried to maneuver around the duck boat on the road.
